'Where's the Female Beethoven?' Radio Times Magazine Article Featuring Hannah

Posted on

An article by Ellie Austin for Radio Times Magazine asks 'Where's the female Beethoven?'. The piece features Hannah, composer Charlotte Bray, and BBC Radio 3 presenter Sara Mohr-Pietsch, who urges the classical music industry to have an open debate on the gender imbalance amongst composers ahead of International Woman's Day.

Hannah goes on to say 'I don't think the industry itself is sexist, but it's based on structures that make it difficult for women to progress. For example, women make up 70 percent of teachers across the country, but only 30 per cent of teachers at conservatoires. If there aren't role models, how do we expect young women to work their way up?'
